There are all sorts of ways to dress your window: you could opt for blinds, net curtains or traditional solid colour curtains. The most important thing guiding your choice should be personal taste, and if you have a penchant for blinds, then go for it.
However, whilst each solution has its own advantages and disadvantages, many people choose net curtains over blinds for the following reasons:
Nets don’t completely block out light, and whilst they aren’t completely transparent, they allow a lot of light to pass into a room. Blinds, by contrast, are either open or closed, and so they lack the “ephemeral” nature of nets. For many, the softened light that’s passed through a net curtain can be very attractive, and a great effect in kitchens, living areas or bathroom spaces.
Nets are safer than blinds. Accidents involving the draw string on blinds are very rare, however they are a potential health hazard, especially if you have very young children. This danger can be mitigated if your tie up the draw things, or even cut them. Nets pose no such problem.
Anyone who has blinds will know that they can have a tendency to accrue dust. By contrast, a net curtain can very easily be removed from the window, and the washed. This makes them suitable in rooms where cleanliness is of the utmost concern.
